Jeremy Menez scored twice to down Udinese 2-0 at San Siro as AC Milan climbed to fifth in Serie A.
The France forward converted a 65th-minute penalty after Maurizio Domizzi's dismissal to give Milan the lead their display deserved and he doubled up with a fine individual goal 10 minutes later.
Nineteen minutes from time Michael Essien saw red for a second bookable offence but Filippo Inzaghi's side were barely tested by the visitors, who slipped one place to ninth in the league table.
Matias Fernandez scored twice while Mario Gomez was also on the mark as Fiorentina thrashed Cagliari 4-0 to cap a great week for Vincenzo Montella's men.
Fiorentina bounced back from successive defeats with victories over Hellas Verona and Guingamp in the last seven days, and Fernandez's 17th-minute goal set them on their way to another triumph on Sunday.
The visitors had to wait until the second half to increase their lead, but further strikes from Fernandez, Gomez -- his first goal since March having only recently returned from injury -- and Juan Cuadrado sealed a deserved win.
Genoa continued their impressive recent run with a comprehensive 3-0 victory over lowly Cesena.
Genoa struck twice in the opening seven minutes through Alessandro Matri and Luca Antonelli, and the visitors had the luxury of missing a penalty through Matri before Nicolas Burdisso's deflected shot made it 3-0 just before half-time.
Edgar Barreto created his team's first goal and scored the second before being sent off as Palermo secured a 2-1 home victory over 10-man Parma.
Barreto set up Paulo Dybala for the hosts' opener in the 37th minute, only for Raffaele Palladino of bottom side Parma to equalise shortly after. Barretto netted the winner in the 73rd minute with a free-kick that beat Parma goalkeeper Alessandro Iacobucci and was almost certainly intended as a cross.
Atalanta held Empoli to a goalless draw to claim a much-needed point and remain above the drop zone.
The closest either side came to breaking the deadlock in Tuscany was in the eighth minute when Atalanta goalkeeper Marco Sportiello did enough to deflect Simone Verdi's close-range effort onto the crossbar.
