QPR manager Harry Redknapp does not believe striker Loic Remy's £8.5million move to Liverpool collapsed over a failed medical.
Liverpool
had in recent days opened talks with Remy after meeting an £8.5m
buy-out clause which allows him to speak to Champions League clubs, but
the deal fell through on Sunday.
Reds boss Brendan Rodgers confirmed that a deal to sign the 27-year-old had collapsed over
the weekend - but refused to clarify the reasons why following
widespread reports suggesting there was a problem with the France
international's medical.
"Reports have come out that he failed a medical. That's not possible," Redknapp said on Monday afternoon.
"He is a very fit lad, there has to be another reason.
"I
don't see how he could have failed a medical. He had a stringent one
here, one at Marseille and at Newcastle and with France before the World
Cup. You couldn't meet a fitter lad."
He added: "Their loss is our gain - we've got a fantastic striker.
"I said last year he was capable of scoring 20 goals in the Premier League. That's what we now want him to do for us."
